Who is Dani Andropoulos?
Dani hasn’t spent much of her life in Oakdale but the time she has spent there has been troublesome. Dani was born when her mother, Betsy, was married to Craig Montgomery. It was over a year after Dani’s birth before Betsy found out who Dani’s real father was.
Knowing that Betsy was truly in love with Steve Andropoulos and about to leave him, Craig kidnapped Dani in an effort to keep Betsy near him. Craig eventually turned himself in to the police and Dani was returned to Betsy. Betsy and Steve later married but Steve crumbled under money problems and found himself in a Greek jail for drug trafficking. Betsy divorced Steve and left to start a new life with Dani.
When Dani was a teenager, Betsy wanted her to have more stability and sent her to Oakdale to live with Dani’s great-grandmother, Ellen Stewart. That was when we discovered that Dani wasn’t so much like her mother. Dani told her friends that her father was an international spy, even though she knew full well he was in prison. She also made trouble for her best friend, Nikki Munson, by going after two boys she shared friendships with. One of those boys was Ryder Hughes, grandson of Chris and Nancy Hughes. Oddly enough, when Dani returned to town in 2008, she did her utmost to nail down Chris Hughes, also a grandson of Chris and Nancy Hughes.
